Being the Head of Hong Kong office, your key responsibilities are:
- Develop marketing strategy and raise awareness of Chinese consumer trends and patterns with retail community
- Develop the buying strategy for target categories and implement acquisition plan with leading consumer brands
- Monitor overall categories performance and adjust strategies internally with merchandising and buying teams
- Contribute to organization and operational development through systems and processes
- Recruit and manage buying teams within Hong Kong market
Leading the team in Hong Kong, you have to manage the on-going performance and career development of local employees and ensure that local office is compliant with local statutory laws and regulations. On a regular practice, you will communicate with other offices internationally to exchange best practices and business trends to improve the operational efficiency as a group. You are expected to report quarterly and annual profit and loss status to executive management on top of producing management reports to headquarters.
You are also expected to conduct business development and marketing activities aiming to raise company profile and value proposition of Chinese consumer market. You will be leading the team to negotiate long-term supplier agreements with merchants that ensure sustainable online trade and develop partnerships with retail online shops to increase cross-border trade traffic. You should be highly alert of latest global market trend so as to evaluate existing product categories and propose the addition of new ranges by categories. With the support of different category managers, you will have to monitor and analyse changes in sales patterns and recommend pricing adjustments and/or merchandising accordingly.
The Successful Applicant
Being the ideal candidate, you should be a degree holder with 15 to 20 years of working experience preferably with 10 years or more in retail and/or consumer brands industry.
The incumbent will have hands-on work experience in merchandising and/or sourcing responsibilities with retail related organizations or international trading agencies.
Demonstrating leadership and business acumen, the incumbent will have managed profit and loss with retail businesses and recent knowledge of e-commerce consumer trends. The successful executive will be a key driver in raising awareness with local consumer brands to trade with the company's online shop targeting Chinese consumers. The candidate will have an appreciation of the China marketplace from a global perspective or previous assignments in Asia Pacific.
This is a leadership role that requires an entrepreneurial minded professional to navigate the business successfully through high level industry networks and motivating the local team effectively. Fluency in English and Chinese will be required.
