Scenario

Based on a strong relationship with the International HR director for a FTSE 100 support service business, I was retained to recruit a regional finance director to cover a region spanning 10 countries and delivering in excess of £1bn revenue.

Following a restructure, the group wanted to recruit someone who would make an immediate impact but develop within the wider remit of this high growth business.

The candidate would need to be ACA qualified with an international track record in the business and support services sector. Exposure to contract margin driven business and experience of mergers and acquisitions was a pre-requisite; language skills would also have been a plus.

Solution

Our approach was to actively search the market to identify suitably qualified finance directors in the business and support services sector. Our research team was briefed and we drew up a list of target organisations approved by the client.

I contacted, briefed and interviewed finance directors from the target organisations to create a shortlist of candidates within a six week time frame. After a series of interviews, three candidates were invited to meet the regional board for a final interview and presentation. Throughout the interview process we provided feedback to both the candidate and client to ensure expectations were managed at each stage.

Outcome

My client said that, with all three candidates exceeding their expectations, they were spoilt for choice.
