Job Description
I am currently recruiting for an Associate Director Competition Economist with a global consultancy in London.
As part of the competition economics practice, our economists advise on a range of issues including UK and EU merger investigations, market inquiries, litigation and state aid. Examples of recent work carried out by the team include advising the European Commission on the Google Shopping abuse of dominance case, a major cartel damages dispute, advising on regulatory price control appeals in the water sector, and several UK and EU merger investigations.
- Play a pivotal role in running projects and maintaining client relationships with minimal supervision from Directors and Partners.
- Ensure that client work is delivered to the highest standards in both content and form, challenging established ways of working and developing innovative approaches.
- Lead project teams of 2-12 people, fostering a collaborative spirit and culture of respect. Maintain a positive attitude when the team is under pressure, supporting other team members.
- Play a key role in our sales efforts, building and maintaining effective relationships with clients and internal contacts. Identify and act on new opportunities with both new and existing clients.
The Successful Applicant
You will have:
- MA/MSc/MPhil or above in Economics.
- Significant experience working as an economist in either a consulting firm, regulator or government department.
- Demonstrable expertise in competition economics.
- Experience in managing economic analysis for large projects, including management of teams, resources and junior colleagues.
- Experience of explaining complex economics clearly and applying economic concepts and techniques to real world situations.
- Significant experience and/or qualifications in quantitative techniques/econometrics
