Job Description

I am curtly recruiting for an Associate Director Water Resource Planning with a global consultancy.

  • You will lead on the businesses water resource panning offering
  • The projects that you will advise on will be high profile and varied. For example, in recent years we have advised on the regulatory framework for the Thames Tideway Tunnel, every aspect of water companies' business plans, bulk supply trading negotiations, Competition and Markets Authority re-determinations, major transactions, organisational transformations, and much more. If there is a large strategic project taking place in the sector, the chances are we will be advising on it.
  • While you will have specific responsibilities for contributing towards the team's water business, there will also be opportunities to work in other sectors, primarily energy networks.
  • Working closely with the director for economic regulation in the water sector, you will help lead and further develop the team, increasing our presence in the sector.
  • This will include identifying new opportunities, contributing towards winning work, and coaching junior members of staff.
  • You will build relationships with key clients across the sector, as well as with other advisors (e.g. legal and engineering).
  • You will be leading the delivery of key projects. This will include delegating tasks to team members, constructing project plans, managing client interactions, tracking budgets, and complying with the company's risk processes.
  • You will need to be comfortable managing, coaching, and mentoring junior staff on specific projects.

The Successful Applicant

  • We are looking for someone who is passionate to help lead and further build the team, increasing our presence in the sector, and delivering high quality work.
  • You will have experience in the utilities sector, in the industry, at a regulator, or as a consultant ideally with water sector experience. It is also preferable for you to have hands on experience of at least one of the statutory planning frameworks in the sector (e.g., WRMP, DWMP, WINEP, etc.)
  • You will have knowledge either of the regulatory frameworks for utility companies, micro-economics, or finance (ideally all three).
  • You will bring excellent report writing, Excel and PowerPoint skills-strong writing and quantitative skills are a must.
  • You will be comfortable and experienced in presenting to senior stakeholders, and building your network of contacts in the sector.
  • You will be a highly motivated, self-starter, willing to take advantages of the opportunities this position offers.
