Job Description
Reporting directly to the General Counsel, the Associate Legal Counsel will sit in the client's New York offices and support the company across functions, teams, and issues. The role will be focused on employment law matters with the ability to branch out and work on other matters. Main Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the General Counsel and other members of the legal team to provide day to day legal support and counseling to HR, Operations, Front Office, Finance, Marketing and other internal clients
- Provide clear cut legal advice on employment issues including: HR practices, performance management, terminations, recruiting, hiring, and compensation and benefits
- Draft and review a wide range of employment related agreements, including: employment agreements, offer letters, executive compensation agreements, benefit plans, etc.
- Create and manage templates for employment trainings, employee handbooks and various policies and procedures
- Draft review and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, including: investment agreements, NDAs, software licensing and SaaS agreements, service agreements, consulting agreements, technology licenses, and other operational agreements
- Assist in the development and oversight of various programs, corporate policies, procedures and programs, as well as legal templates and training
- Handle compliance and regulatory matters as they arise
- Manage outside counsel when necessary

The Successful Applicant
The Associate Legal Counsel candidate should have a strong understanding of employment law matters with a desire to expand into practicing other areas of law, including: investment banking, commercial contracts and compliance.
Required Qualifications:
- JD from a top US ABA accredited law school with excellent academic credentials
- 2-4 years of experience gained at a top AmLaw 100 firm handling employment law matters
- Admission to the NY State Bar
- Experience working cross-functionally and collaborate across multiple lines of business
- Must show proven ability to build strong working relationships with internal clients at all management levels
- Exceptional drafting and negotiating skills with the ability to prepare high level/high impact materials
- Candidates must be local to NYC and be willing to work in-office on a hybrid schedule (2-3 days in office/2-3 days at home)
- Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire to be considered for this role
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to investment agreements and commercial contracts (NDAs, software licenses, SaaS contracts)
- Possess excellent quantitative skills and the demonstrated ability to work well with numbers
- Exposure to working and communicating directly with internal and external clients, including C-suite executives
- Ambition to continue to grow and learn new areas of the law
