It will be a period of change, challenge and opportunity and Sovereign need a talented, experienced and visionary Chief Financial Officer to join the Board and play a key role as it develops.
Reporting to the CEO, the CFO is responsible for ensuring that Sovereign has the financial strength to deliver the strategic plan in a sustainable manner with appropriate controls and risk management.
The CFO will be the lead on business and financial strategy and work with the Executive in the delivery of the business plan.
The CFO will also be required to play a high-profile role in terms of influencing and representing the organisation to key external stakeholders.
The Successful Applicant
We are looking for a new CFO who can bring a blend of professional, leadership and strategic skills to develop a strong and forward-looking Finance function.
You will safeguard Sovereign's strong financial position, ensure that it uses its capital base effectively over the long-term, challenge Sovereign to find new solutions to old problems and maximise all future opportunities.
You must be a CCAB qualified accountant with significant senior-level experience in corporate finance and significant experience of contributing to and influencing the strategic leadership of a sizeable organisation.
You will have proven leadership capability and experience of managing multi discipline teams, including leading and managing other non-specialist finance functions.
Extensive treasury experience including banking and capital markets funding options is required.
You will have a collaborative and flexible leadership style and experience of working with Boards, demonstrating suitable gravitas and being able to inculcate trust and confidence. You will also have a strong commercial focus.
A knowledge and understanding of the affordable housing sector is beneficial but not essential.
