Job Description

Initially the focus will be on the Dutch operations and the current operational expansion activities, management reporting and ESG., followed by increasing focus towards our future plans within the US and Southern Europe.

As member of the Executive Committee and reporting to the CEO, you'll have proven experience overseeing the overall finance function as also leading the Legal Department, a strong ability to steer the organization with your financial skills and competencies, you pro-actively think and act to support the company with its operational and sustainability goals, contributing to strong results and strategic ambitions.

You do not shy away from the challenges that come with a dynamic scale up environment. Not everything is set in stone and you are comfortable in finding your own way, and together with the CEO determining the road to success.

As our CFO you will be based in Amsterdam, where a part of our team is situated. However, this is not where the action happens. You will need to visit the operations in Kats (Zeeland) at least 2 a week to get an understanding of what we do, help steer the business to fulfil its targets & milestones, but also to stay connected with your on-site team members and various departments that your team supports.Key Responsibilities:

  • Contributing to the realization of the strategic and operational plans, and being capable to translate these to financial goals and prognoses. You keep track of realization, you identify and mitigate risks.
  • Liquidity management and budget control
  • Thinking in terms of value creation, seeing chances to improve the business efficiency and realizing these opportunities together with the Executive Committee as well as with the Operational Management Team in Kats.
  • Further professionalization of the Finance function: management reporting on key business metrics, production control, internal cost management and risk management.
  • Create financial KPI's and based on these take care of providing directional information for the decision makers and department heads within the company
  • Develop and support the Finance team towards business partnering within the business
  • Responsible for the Legal department, financial agreements and documentation
  • Investigating and implementing fiscal optimalisation strategies and solutions
  • Draft and coordinate the financial forecasts, budgets and strategic financial plan with the various stakeholders
  • Timely and accurate financial reporting, both internally as well as to the supervisory board and stock exchange
  • Maintaining contacts / relationships with third parties, including banks, tax authorities, accountants, etc.

The Successful Applicant


  • Academic financial background plus RA or RC degree
  • At least 10 to 15 years proven track record leading a team, of which the last 5 years as the financial end responsible
  • International experience in a manufacturing environment. If gained within the food/feed/aqua industry, this is an advantage
  • Experience with entities in a stock-exchange listed environment
  • Affinity with creating information streams to support the optimization of the commercial results and future growth
  • Understanding of a scale up and what it takes to be successful as such
  • Experience leading the Legal function
  • Above-average communication, collaboration, and delegation skills
  • Ability to motivate and lead people, and hold employees accountable
  • Knowledge of group/corporate activities, such as tax, treasury, compliance, ESG and consolidation
  • IFRS experience
