Job Description

  • The CFO role will initially be need to be 'hands on' as we seek to establish the business as a leading house builder that can operate at scale and across a wider geography
  • Take control of the financial management, accounting, budgeting and forecasting of the business and implement improved systems and processes

Producing high quality and accurate management information, budgets and forecasts

  • Production of monthly management information and board reports (with assistance from the finance team)
  • Oversight of all budgeting and reporting against those budgets

Introducing and controlling first rate financial accounting systems and software

  • Implementation of a new accounting/MI system fit for the future growth
  • Development and implementation of an MI framework that facilitates robust profit and cash flow management, including at the project/site level, working with other departments as required

Building a finance team

Recruiting / managing and developing a new team representing the internal finance function of the business (currently all outsourced)

Group funding arrangements

  • Taking control of all banking and funder relationships
  • Identify and source new funding opportunities as required
  • Manage all joint venture funding or grant funding relationships

Strategic executive role

  • Involvement in new site acquisitions as part of the Executive team
  • Full Executive responsibilities including strategic input to the future direction
  • Assistance in setting up regional divisions in the future with appropriate financial management

The Successful Applicant

  • Experience at CFO level or track record that demonstrates the ability to step up to a CFO role from FD level
  • House building, construction or manufacturing experience is highly desired
  • Experience of managing and building a successful team within an SME environment
  • An ability to take a hands on approach to the role initially
  • A confident personality with the ability to engage with senior people and investors both internally and externally and work collaboratively across the company
  • The desire and ability to make a valuable contribution to the wider strategic thinking of the Executive team
  • Track record in systems and MI implementation.
