Job Description

  • Implement and grow a new matrix, cross-company marketing team, ensuring that current staff remain engaged and empowered
  • Ensure a consistent and ambitious customer-centric marketing strategy for all segments across the business (Gov/funder, Corporate, Pharma, Academic, Publishing)
  • Increase focus on lead generation and the marketing funnel, whilst retaining the elements of thought-leadership and innovation that set Digital Science apart from its competitors
  • Plan, implement, and lead overall our marketing strategy in line with business objectives; manage overall budget; deliver and communicate successful results, analyse and adapt future activity
  • Embody exceptional people management, leading by example and demonstrating a commitment to fairness, diversity and inclusion
  • Bring the 'voice of the customer' more concretely into the business as an input to strategic and product decisions, to ensure that our actions are rooted in customer needs and preferences
  • Champion marketing across the organization, ensuring close alignment with sales and other relevant areas of the business
  • Analyze the end-to-end customer journeys and business interactions (diving into the detail where necessary to identify where the customer experience can be improved) in collaboration with Business Unit and Product owners
  • Focus on KPIs and lead generation, aligned across the business (agreeing aligned KPIs for Segment and Product-specific marketing, marketing operations, Sales and Customer Engagement teams)

The Successful Applicant

  • 10 years+ in customer-focused technology leadership, specializing in B2B
  • Clear experience of driving strong double or triple digit revenue growth in B2B technology businesses
  • Change management experience in a complex organization
  • Proven successes in working closely with sales teams to accelerate lead generation, strengthen the marketing funnel and increase sales win and renewal rates
  • Strong people management skills, including both team development and driving delivery of results
  • Experience in sales, marketing automation and analytics platforms, including Salesforce, Pardot (or similar), Google Analytics and Social Media management tools
  • A background in one or more of our core market segments (Gov/funder, Corp/Pharma, Academic)
  • Expertise or awareness of the Scientific Communications (STM) and Research Technology market (desirable, but not a deal breaker. We are also looking for growth-focused technology specialists who can learn our industry and make an impact)
  • Superior analytical and commercial skills
