Chief Engineer

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee and manage all engineering tasks on the construction site, ensuring adherence to design specifications, plans, and regulatory requirements.
• Take charge of the technical execution of construction projects, ensuring that engineering efforts align with the project's objectives and scope.
• Offer direction and assistance to site engineers and technicians in addressing complex technical problems.
• Ensure that all engineering work is completed with the highest standards of quality, safety, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and Construction Manager to plan, schedule, and allocate resources, materials, and workforce for the construction site.
• Examine construction plans, drawings, and specifications for accuracy and practicality.
• Manage and supervise the work of subcontractors, engineers, and technical teams, ensuring the project timeline is adhered to.
• Perform regular site inspections to track progress and ensure quality control.
• Provide technical expertise on the design and engineering aspects of the construction project, ensuring all design elements are feasible and executable.
• Review any design changes, drawings, or project plans and ensure that updates are communicated to all necessary parties.
• Confirm that all engineering designs comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Assist in the selection of appropriate materials, construction methods, and technologies based on project needs and site conditions.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and guidelines specific to the construction site for all engineering activities.
• Oversee the engineering budget, ensuring the project remains within financial constraints.
• Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and process improvements in engineering without compromising quality.
• Review engineering-related invoices and ensure they are in line with the approved budget.
• Lead and mentor the engineering team, ensuring they have the necessary resources and support to perform their roles effectively.
• Provide technical training and growth opportunities for junior engineers and site staff.
• Foster a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement within the engineering department.
• Maintain effective communication with project managers, construction managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders on technical progress and challenges.
• Prepare and present regular progress reports, highlighting engineering achievements, challenges, and any variations from the planned schedule or budget.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all technical matters related to the construction project.
