In the context of leadership change, our client is looking for a new Chief Operating Officer for our operations in Continental Europe. With a team of 120 people, principally London based, the candidate will take responsibility for business support, finance, HR, compliance and administration. The candidate will also assume the role of Managing Director of Tysers Belgium n.v. our subsidiary for continental business. Short term challenges will be to ensure the handover with current management, to establish an audit committee, to set up compliance structure and to implement the balanced scorecard (BSC) and to structure the management information (MI).Job DescriptionBelgian companies' local statutory accountsDirects and controls reporting to the Belgian Board and LondonResponsible for all regulatory obligations linked to the business of the company, its subsidiaries and its UK BranchActing as overall coordinator and first line adviser to the London designated SMF function on business developmentEstablish and controls processes and practices within all the company businesses that ensure financial, compliance and risk management in line with Group standardsImplementing risk management & internal controls, with a coherent, user friendly BSC, the candidate will deliver on the following outcomes:Participating in European Business Development (organic and external)Maintaining framework in support of businessPreparing and organizing Belgian board meetings (quarterly)Organizing and lead OpCo (monthly)Organizing and lead RD Forum (monthly)Liaising with divisional and functional heads and ensuring Belgium is considered in group decisionsRepresenting Tysers with EEA clients and liaising with FSMAControlling, monitoring RDs and PCPs requirements and trainingConducting relationships with investment institutions, regulators, partners, shareholders and the local financial/insurance communityCreates information-based and market insights to leverage business performance and changeThe role holder is required to be familiar and comply with all company policies and procedures and responsible for adhering to the regulatory requirements that are required of the Company in Belgium and in the UK.The Successful ApplicantMore than 15 years' experience in Broking or UnderwritingPrevious experience managing business unit P&LExtensive experience in the general insurance industry, including marineExperience of working for or with International Insurance businessesResponsibility at a senior level for the analysis of financial information, operations and regulators partnershipsUnderstanding of the dynamics of the non-life insurance industry, in several European markets including detailed understanding of profit driversMaster's degree in economics, business or alike.
