Job Description

  1. Risk Management Function
  • Appointed Risk Officer in terms of the Insurance Risk Management Rules
  • Responsible for the Company's risk management function
  • Oversee and maintain the Company's Risk Management Framework
  • Perform quarterly stress testing calculations and risk assessments
  • Compliance review of the Company's RAS
  • Prepare and document the Company's Annual RMF incl. the ORSA process
  • Liaise with Auditors and Actuary for their annual compliance review of the Company's RMF in accordance with the Insurance Risk Management Rules
  • Communicate with Head of Risk Function in the Group on risk matters
  • Recommend and draft adapted policies
  1. Compliance Function
  • Appointed Compliance Officer in terms of the FIAML Regulations
  • Overall responsibility for ensuring that the company conducts business in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, codes and company policies
  • Maintain ongoing and updated knowledge of the regulatory environment
  • Establish ongoing compliance program
  1. Statutory and Regulatory matters
  • Prepare/ review / submit requests, applications, and all communication to the Regulator
  • Monitor on boarding of clients and cell creation applications
  • Maintain relationship with the Regulator
  • Oversight of company secretarial function (performed by a management company) including review of all minutes, resolutions
  • Advise on statutory reporting obligations
  • Drafting of simple agreements
  1. Company Strategy, New Deals and products
  • Contribute to the Company's strategy to achieve the set objectives / outcomes
  • Advising on compliance requirements for new deals / products
  • Liaise with legal advisors and other professionals for review of contracts and agreements
  • Facilitate all projects by ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks
  • Ensure full understanding of products
  • Attend presentations made to prospective clients
  • Assist with queries from clients
  1. Approval and review
  • Joint responsibilities under the four-eyes principle: bank signatory, reviewing proposed dividends declaration, client proposals, approving terms and conditions of agreements/ contracts, ad-hoc analysis
  • Assist with review of accounting reconciliations and management accounts
  1. Report to the Board and Committees
  • Attend board and committee meetings
  • Report to the Board: Quarterly Risk Report and Compliance Report
  • Assist Management and the Board with corporate governance matters / queries
  • Drafting the Company's code of corporate governance on an annual basis
  1. Other Responsibilities
  • Accounting: Syncerus Cell and Sider PCC Cell
  • Provide support to CEO and guidance to other staff members, in addition to above-mentioned responsibilities

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate is an experienced professional who is very hands-on.

Experience in the risk/compliance space (ideally within insurance/reinsurance space) is a must.

Business development and strategic leadership are also key aspects of this role.
