About Our Client
Our client is a frontier biotechnology company dedicated to developing next generation gene editing therapy utilizing regulation of epigenetic genome for a variety of diseases. Founded in 2021 by the group of scientists focused on discovering gene editing technologies and developing gene editing therapies, the company has multiple product candidates in the pipeline, including treatment for ocular, neurodegeneration, metabolic, and rare diseases.Recently confirming strong round of financing they are confident to invite a qualified Chief Science Officer to join their leadership team to drive further progress with the platform and pipeline.
Job Description
- Fulfill the company's mission and strategic objectives by advancing assets through pre-clinical and early clinical development.
- Formulate and supervise the overall research & development strategy of the company including all phases of discovery, preclinical and early clinical development.
- Supervise key discovery experiments and development processes to advance company's pipeline programs towards the envisioned preclinical and clinical development milestones.
- Establish research priorities, resourcing and scientific outcomes to achieve the company's strategic goals and objectives.
- Supervise the interactions with external academic, biotech and contract research organizations (CRO), engage external research environment and establish collaborations consistent with internal strategies.
- Mentor and develop direct R&D reports, oversee and supervise the company's IP portfolio for its R&D pipeline.
The Successful Applicant
- At least 15 - 20 years of relevant experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, including senior level leadership experience.
- Preferred to bring prior experience in the field of epigenetics, preferably in gene regulatory applications
- Candidates with background in the field of gene therapy with excellent track record and interes to gain knowledge in epigenome controls gene expression would also be considered
- MD, PhD, PharmD or similar degree in a life science field from an accredited institution required
- Prior experience building out drug discovery capabilities and overseeing a drug discovery team desired
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to effectively communicate concepts and ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Effective interpersonal skills. Prior experience with establishing and advancing industry partnerships strongly desired.
- Desired experience around due diligence of business development opportunities
- Exposure to US FDA and China CDE regulations preferred to be able to support BLD/IND applications and contribute
- Open to be full time based in Shanghai on site to lead the team
