About Our Client

Supporting the delivery of research and health solutions business focus in China through strategic communications, coordination of news flow, development and dissemination of compelling stories (internally and externally), stakeholder engagement, counselling of leaders and effective use of digital channels.
Identifying, monitoring and responding to potential reputational threats to business reputation in China, developing appropriate plans and responses for immediate crisis communication / incident management situations as required to mitigate and pre-empt those risks.
Engaging and building relations with key media outlets (top-tier through to trade media across mainstream and digital) and social media channels. You will also be expected to develop stakeholder management plans and spokespersons coaching (where necessary) to engage with target audiences. This work will be accomplished successfully through strong collaboration with the commercial team, marketing and government affairs in China.
As an active member of Global Communications, you will contribute to developing and driving the company's reputation and enhancing culture by championing the operating principles. You will manage agency relationships to ensure robust delivery on priorities.
You will work closely with the members of the China management team to drive internal engagement and enhance business reputation, its products and services amongst our customers, stakeholders and the media.
You will work with the Global Communications team and the China management team to align on metrics that provide a meaningful way to measure communications & brand performance as part of the company??s reputation strategy, and provide an engaging and actionable reporting mechanism to ensure internal stakeholders are aware of the outcomes that our communications efforts are driving.
The Successful Applicant
University graduate, with extensive and a minimum of 10 years working experience ideally gained in a MNC context, either in-house or a renowned agency; and used to working with colleagues and management of diverse backgrounds. Work-related experience in health, research and professional sectors an advantage.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English and Chinese, including mastery of various writing formats with expertise in editing.
Extensive experience in developing and managing integrated communications campaigns and activities involving traditional media and digital channels.
Sound judgement at managing media relations, issues and policy communications, crisis preparation and management.
Experience in internal communications an advantage.
Experience advising senior management, including helping them navigate challenging communications risks and challenges. Time zone differences and portfolio responsibility require a high degree of independence and timely action to handle external threats and counsel management.
Strong acumen in distilling corporate narrative for local relevance in China.
Demonstrated skills in presentation and written communications and an innate understanding of how to connect with an audience.
Understanding of the application of metrics and data to brand, as well as translating analytics into actionable insights.
Demonstrated ability to effectively establish, lead and maintain collaborative and cooperative working relationships both within and outside of the organization; multicultural awareness required.
Extensive experience in managing public relations agencies, ensuring their work fully aligns with communications objectives at the corporate and China level.
Exceptional organizational skills; shows agility at adapting strategies and tactics.
Budgeting experience with a proven record of fiscal responsibility.
Keen judgement and business acumen to understand the commercial risks, challenges and opportunities associate with China business.
Diplomacy and negotiating skills.
Fluency with web and social media platforms and applications.
Requires domestic and occasional international travel.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Strategic thinking in identifying communications opportunities to enhance the business and drives accountability for delivery and performance.
