About Our Client

On behalf of our client, an international retail organization, we are assisting in their search for a Communications Manager Benelux. In this role you will report directly to the General Manager Benelux and you will be part of the Benelux leadership team. Next to working closely together with the Benelux team, you will play a leading role in developing the local communication strategies, in which you will work closely together with your (local) leadership peers on developing, implementing, and executing group-wide strategies, both from an internal and external communications perspective.Our client is going through times of change in today's dynamic retail environment. Their future Communications Manager will prove to be one of the important pillar's in their success in the region. This role will be an exciting opportunity for a hands-on entrepreneurial and senior communication professional - someone who will prove to have the ability and the drive to (next to) translating international communication strategies to a local perspective, introduce new local initiatives and drive new dynamics within the team and organization.

Job Description

Key activities and responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of local strategies, adaptation, and local execution of group-wide strategies for both external and internal communication
  • Responsibility for both internal and external communication
  • Spokes person
  • Creation of articles, press releases, internal releases and posts, speeches, features, etc. and distribution through internal and external channels
  • Consulting of specialists and executives in all communicative issues
  • Establishing and maintaining contact with journalists and PR agencies
  • Representing the company externally to the media
  • Planning and execution of external or internal events, interviews, etc., related to communication topics
  • Support for corporate departments regarding press and PR
  • Communications controlling on a country level
  • Collection, analysis, and internal distribution of information relevant to the country organization and International Communications team

The Successful Applicant

Required skills

  • Bachelor degree - ideally, degree or vocational training in journalism or similar
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience - both internal and external communication
  • Ideally bring experience from both a corporate and a local organisation
  • The ability to translate corporate initiatives to a local organisation
  • Experience of conceptualization, steering and implementation of PR topics and projects
  • Experience of dealing with PR, internet, and marketing agencies
  • Proven ability to work under stress and in crisis situations
  • Experience with senior stakeholder management within an international setting
  • Hands-on mentality; good execution skills
  • Fluent in Dutch and English - the French language is highly preferred
