Job Description

The main purpose of the role is leading all communications activities in Turkey. She/he is responsible for the strategy, planning, and hands-on execution of globally and regionally aligned local communications to support brand's portfolio and reputation. She/he is a member of the Turkey Leadership Team as well as the International Communications team, within the Corporate Affairs Function.

This position also acts as the site communications lead for company's employee presence in Istanbul. She/he will work with local HR and business leaders to create and implement internal communications strategies for all employees.

Directly reporting to the Head of International Communications and dotted line to the General Manager, Turkey, professional will be accountable for:

  • Developing annual communication strategies and executing them in collaboration with local leadership team, Global Communications and Global Corporate Affairs via having full communications budget responsibility
  • Aligning local objectives for corporate reputation, disease awareness and product communications with global strategies and local plans
  • Developing local country materials/adapting global materials (e.g. press releases, statements, talking points, Q&As, fact sheets, etc.) and managing the internal review process
  • Leading and managing national/local media relations as well as preparing local company spokespeople as subject matter experts to engage with media and key external stakeholders: Developing trusted working relationships with journalists; creating/seizing engagement opportunities; evaluating/responding to requests; and developing appropriate messaging and materials
  • Monitoring and managing issues that could impact company success or company reputation
  • Integrating communications efforts with cross-functional teams such as Government Affairs, Commercial/Marketing, Patient Advocacy, Market Access, Medical Affairs, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure strategic, consistent and effective communications on key topics/issues/initiatives
  • Working closely with the Head of International Communications to support initiatives (e.g. related to major milestones) and implementing broader corporate communications initiatives at the local level
  • Working with the General Manager and local teams, as well as the Global Culture & Internal Communications teams, to inform employees and support engagement
  • Identifying, contracting and leading/managing/overseeing agencies engaged to support communications activities

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor degree from reputable universities, master degree is a plus
  • Minimum 10+ years of corporate communications experience gained in global health care companies and/or agency experience with health care market focus
  • Strong and broad background in communications in the bio/pharmaceutical industry
  • Rare disease know-how would bring important advantage
  • Knowledge of the local media landscape and robust media relations experience
  • Experience in content for digital and social media
  • Proven track record in stakeholder management; able to work successfully with both executives and subject matter experts
  • Challenge seeker, initiative taker, passionate, comfortable with ambiguity, having growth mindset
  • Fluency in English is a must
