Job Description
The successful candidate will work as a member of the US entity, focusing on the Bank's North America Corporate Loan investing activities. Able to work independently and together with cross-cultural teams to provide support and due diligence for financial analyses and modeling, market research, credit application preparation, documentation review, and overall transaction management. The successful candidate should be self-motivated team player, able to multi-task with keen attention to detail, and should enjoy working efficiently in a fast-paced, collegial, and professional environment within a small team of a flat organizational structure.
Principal Responsibilities
- Initial screening of potential leveraged loan investments, including review of transaction structure and credit documentation
- Carry out detailed analysis of target investments, including in-depth assessment of business models and investment risks
- Build complete financial models covering P&L, balance sheet and cash flow statements
- Participate in calls and meetings with corporate borrowers (or potential borrowers), arranger banks (including sell-side research analysts) and other market participants
- Assist with ongoing monitoring of existing investment portfolios, including reviewing company reporting and benchmarking relative value opportunities
- Prepare investment committee materials and other materials for risk assessment and related tasks necessary for transaction execution at the direction of head office
- Eventually develop an in-depth knowledge of select sectors that have significant leveraged loan issuance
- Interface on a continuous basis with head office
The Successful Applicant
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- BA/BS degree preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related business areas
- 2-4 years of financial analysis experience in the leveraged finance or investment area
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills and solid understanding of financial analyses and financial accounting
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing a professional, error-free work product
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Keen to work in a cross-cultural, cross-border environment, including the ability to work across multiple time-zones
- A very high level of proficiency with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Strong sense of accountability and commitment to achieve team goal
