The Demand Planning Manager is responsible to provide oversight, leadership and accountability for strategic and tactical activities related to Demand Planning and the Demand Planning staff. The primary internal contacts for this position include: CSO, Senior Director of Global Planning, Senior Director of Production & Inventory, Finance, Sales, Marketing and Product Development. External contacts are primarily Customers.
The Demand Planning Manager is responsible for developing and driving the company's unconstrained demand volume and financial forecast while providing supporting KPIs. This position owns the demand planning process and integration into the company's S&OP practice. Responsible for the oversight, definition and integration of appropriate statistical models and domain information (internal and external) to continually improve forecast accuracy and reduce bias. Such that the Company may have clarity and confidence in future global financial performance for a time horizon required by the Executive level and product divisions to plan the business. The Demand Planning Manager will perform all duties while taking into consideration the company's commitment to our seven Core Values such as Sustainability (people, the planet, and profit) in the planning and implementation of all actions related to the area of responsibility.
Job Description & Duties: * Responsible for providing unconstrained demand plans that reflect team's best estimate of the future outlook. * Work with Demand Planners, Sales, Marketing and NPD to improve forecast metrics consistently * Drive continuous improvement initiatives in process, people and systems within scope * Work with Sales and other senior leaders in developing business plans, supporting company and group initiatives, assisting with change management, tracking key performance indicators and monitoring the implementation of business plans to ensure executed consistently * Participate in business decisions and build effective relationships with Company executives, key management and staff * Research, analyze and ensure successful implementation of company best practices across functional areas * Keep abreast of critical issues and work with management and staff, troubleshooting and positively impacting outcomes * Effectively negotiate and communicate cross-functionally across the organization, coordinating with various functions to exceed objectives * Establish cohesive working relationships with various internal departments * Adhere to a culture of professionalism, operational excellence and drive for results
* Lead process excellence and continuous improvement efforts with little supervision * Exemplify the Company's Core Values, and provides positive leadership, direction and support to Production and Inventory personnel, ensuring that all provincial, federal and Company required HR, Payroll, Safety, Security and Sustainability related activities and initiatives are carried out consistently * Review financial and performance data with management to achieve budgeted results * Communicate with various departments regarding promotions, finished goods requirements and reporting for management, including analysis on past promotional history to determine impact on sales forecast * Participate in regular Sales & Operations (S&OP) planning meetings * Set up and maintenance of new product process o Launch forecast review and confirmation; including New Product 3, 6, 12 month forecast review o Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) rationalization suggestions to management and New Product Development (NPD) o Product Lifecycle Management: tracking new product development, tracking product discontinuation, and tracking Change Control process * Other duties as assigned
The Successful Applicant
Education and certifications
* Minimum Degree in business or Logistics & Supply Chain Management or MBA, with at least 5 years' Supply Chain and Operations experience
* Ideally certifications in the Forecasting, Demand Planning function, such as IBF Certified Forecaster
Technical * Essential - A minimum of 5 years' experience successfully working as a Demand Planner * Experience managing people, either direct or indirect reports * Experience in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing with a GMP environment * Understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Demand Processes and a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience * High level knowledge of ERP Systems * Expert level in computer skills with MS Excel and Access, demonstrated ability in logic functions, pivot tables and complex formulas and working knowledge of SharePoint Services
