Job Description

I am currently recruiting a Director of Group Government Relations with a global bank in London. You will:

  • Support the Group Head of Government Relations in providing advice to the Board and Group Executive Committee on political and public policy issues. Includes regular briefing and speech writing
  • Devise and execute political and public policy advocacy campaigns to support strategic objectives and protect and enhance reputation with political audiences. Includes co-ordination of international and cross-cutting advocacy in multiple jurisdictions, working closely with Government Relations in US and APAC
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the political and public policy landscape as it affects the bank. Includes horizon scanning of new and emerging policy developments that may impact strategic the banks objectives. Particular responsibility for public policy developments that relate to prudential, tax, sustainable finance, Brexit, recovery and resolution, cross-border trade, corporate governance, shareholders and HR
  • Act as the banks representative and spokesperson on political and public policy matters externally, including via regular interaction with political and governmental stakeholders in the UK and EU. Requires maintenance of deep political and policy networks in Westminster, Whitehall, Brussels and beyond

The Successful Applicant

You will have:

  • Extensive experience working in either a political, public affairs or policy-making environment. Existing political and policy networks in the UK and EU are desired
  • Strong understanding of banking and public policy affecting banks or another highly regulated market.
  • Exceptional writing, including ability to write speeches and other forms of communications on behalf of senior people
  • Excellent people management skills, with the ability to broker decisions with varied teams across the bank
  • Conscientious, disciplined and with excellent attention to detail
  • A proactive, self-starter, able to act on initiative
  • Ability to understand and analyse complex problems and execute a plan to deliver effective tactical and strategic solutions

What's on Offer

£90,000 - £110,000 PA DOE plus excellent benefits and bonus.
