The Director of Operations will lead the end‑to‑end operational value chain in Mexico, overseeing CNC machining, precision manufacturing, production, supply chain, materials planning, procurement, logistics, engineering, metrology, and quality assurance. This leader will be responsible for operational strategy, execution excellence, and the continuous improvement of processes, systems, and organizational capabilities.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Lead daily operations across CNC machining, fabrication/welding, metrology, assembly, production planning, procurement, engineering, maintenance, warehousing, and distribution.
  • Ensure delivery, quality, cost, and safety performance meets and exceeds expectations.
  • Implement structured operational systems, KPIs, and shop‑floor accountability.



Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Develop short‑ and long‑range operational strategies aligned with corporate and financial objectives.
  • Lead capacity planning, operational scaling, and productivity initiatives.
  • Support global sourcing programs and supplier cost‑reduction initiatives.



Manufacturing Excellence

  • Drive Lean, Kaizen, TPM, OEE, waste reduction, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead development or acquisition of new equipment, tooling, plant layouts, and process optimization.
  • Strengthen precision machining standards, metrology discipline, and process capability.



Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with customer specifications, internal quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead root‑cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous reduction of scrap, variation, and defects.
  • Prepare for, support, and lead customer and regulatory audits.



Supply Chain & Logistics

  • Optimize end‑to‑end material flow, planning, warehousing, and distribution.
  • Coordinate with U.S. operations to optimize cross‑border supply chain and inventory levels.
  • Strengthen supplier performance and negotiate cost‑effective procurement strategies.



Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and develop high‑performance leaders across operations, engineering, and supply chain.
  • Foster an environment of safety, accountability, discipline, respect, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide executive representation for Mexico (legal, compliance, banking signatory when required).



The Successful Applicant

Required Experience & Qualifications

Technical Background

  • 10+ years in operational leadership within precision machining, CNC manufacturing, or metal‑mechanic components.
  • Strong experience in CNC machining centers, metrology, tooling, fixtures, machining engineering, and precision measurement systems.
  • Experience implementing Lean, Kaizen, TPM, OEE, or similar methodologies.



Leadership Competencies

  • Demonstrated ability to build structure in under‑developed operations.
  • Strong execution discipline and hands‑on leadership style.
  • Proven ability to manage and integrate multi‑functional teams.



Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (required).
  • Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.



Personal Attributes

  • High integrity, analytical rigor, and strong financial acumen.
  • Results‑driven, persistent, and capable of leading through complexity.
  • Excellent communication skills; comfortable interfacing with U.S. corporate leadership.
