About Our Client

Our client for the Director of Sales Packaging - North America is a global supplier for returnable packaging. This global company serves customers all around the world and has over 100 locations globally. This organization is aggressively growing and looking to double their revenue by 2030 through organic growth and through acquisition. They service customers in food and beverage, raw materials, chemicals, consumer goods, and automotive. Automotive, Electric Vehicles, and Batteries are a high growth segment.

The Director of Sales Packaging North America will report to the Regional President of the Americas and be leading a sales organization of 10 plus individuals. The Sales Director Packaging will work with the Regional President to develop and execute the sales and customer strategy driving growth and customer satisfaction. The Sales Director will have a proven track record in driving aggressive, but strategic and profitable growth, not managing the Status Quo. This group is especially targeting growth within the EV (Electric Vehicle) and Battery segments of automotive. Must have experience calling on automotive customers.

Job Description

  • Develop new business opportunities with current accounts and new customers in food and beverage production, raw materials, chemicals, consumer goods, and automotive/EV/Batteries.
  • Build strong customer relationships and strategic partnerships to assess customer needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions
  • Achieve and exceed Budget Sales and Gross Margin targets with customers and managing rebate programs
  • Ensure all reports, plans, forecasts, and administrative requirements are completed accurately and in a timely manner meeting all reporting deadlines as set by senior management and the President - Americas.
  • Identify target segments where market share is low and produce a plan to target and grow sales in each of these segments.
  • Manage, mentor, develop, and coach sales team members.
  • Assist and provide direction with sales team members on key decisions makers at customers helping guide them through the sales, account management, and business development process removing roadblocks.
  • Develop and deploy the Key Account strategy, supported by individual Key Account plans
  • Identify new and profitable opportunities with existing customers and leverage these to increase profitable sales with them
  • Efficiently plan customer facing time and call cycles to maximize time management and diligently complete call reports etc. on CRM
  • Work closely and cooperatively with logistics, operations, and supply chain to ensure maximizing opportunities and customer relationships
  • Provide regular and relevant feedback on Market conditions, competitor activities and progress towards business objectives.
  • Analyze the current market position, i.e. the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
  • Ensure continuous improvement in a change-oriented culture.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering, or related
  • Minimum of 10 years of sales experience with automotive and/or packaging
  • Minimum 3 years in a Sales Leadership role leading high performing teams
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems with accounts in complex technical environments
  • Prior experience and in-depth knowledge of the packaging solutions calling on automotive customers is a must have
  • Strong understanding of global logistics and supply chain transporting materials and/or raw materials
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong presentations and communication skills required
  • Experience working in a global organization preferred

What's on Offer

Competitive base salary $160,000 - $210,000 depending on experience, bonus 20% (up to 40%), additional discretionary bonus and sales incentive plan ranging from an additional $20,000 - $50,000 in compensation, company car allowance, potential to participate in long term incentive - management equity plan, phone, computer, full benefits, 401K, vacation, holidays.
