The Technology Director is a key strategic leader within the Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Directorate, responsible for technology strategy, leadership, governance, operations, security, and change delivery. This role ensures the advancement of technology capabilities to meet the DDaT strategy and support the charity's business plans and purpose.

Job Description

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive technology strategy that supports the charity's objectives.
  • Create and maintain technology roadmaps, outlining the future vision and plans for scaling technology solutions.
  • Lead the Technology Function, fostering a culture collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Lead and develop the Heads of Technology, creating a positive environment for learning and collaboration so that we can apply new technologies and ideas across the wider organisation.
  • Champion the adoption of emerging technologies to drive change, transformation, and service improvement.
  • Collaborate with the leaders of Data and Digital to integrate technology solutions that enhance data-driven decision-making and digital experiences.
  • Direct technology governance, risk, and compliance to ensure the Charity's exposure to operational risk and business continuity is sufficiently protected.
  • Direct technology projects and workstreams within wider business programmes working with TMO colleagues in close cooperation over governance, ensuring work is delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Oversee various agile based delivery methods within projects, and in flow-based models as required.
  • Manage the organisation's infrastructure and applications to support current operations and future growth.
  • Oversee robust security measures to protect company data and mitigate risks. Ensure policy, control and compliance is in place across the technology landscape.
  • Ensure technology continuity / disaster recovery capability in the context of the business continuity plan.



The Successful Applicant

  • Proven experience in a senior technology leadership role, preferably within a similar-sized organisation.
  • Strong strategic and operational planning abilities, with a track record of developing and executing technology strategies.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse technology team.
  • Experience of technology / engineering delivery models including waterfall and agile methods, toolsets and skillsets.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of engaging with executive-level leaders, peers, other stakeholders such as Trustees, and cross-functional teams.
