Job Description
This is a new position for a Finance Director in Birmingham who will work with the Board and Senior Management on finance and related strategic matters. The role of Finance Director is critical to support the growth plans of the company.
You will have overall responsibility for establishing the finance function, providing hands-on support, to develop a financial framework capable of ensuring the sustainability of the business, as well as business scale up. A proactive approach to creating and then managing the finance department will be essential to keep pace as the business changes and rapidly grows. You will be a trusted advisor to the Investors, Board and Executive Team on business and financial strategy.
You will be expected to identify, and model opportunities, risks and costs associated with the business plan, as well as commercial analysis of sales and partnerships. Contributing to the development of new sales strategies and technology partnerships, will be an increasing focus for the role. You will also manage cash flow and operational budgets and produce and communicate forecasts, reports and analyses for the Management Team and Board. Also, take a lead responsibility for all tax and financial audit duties.
The Successful Applicant
For this new Finance Director opportunity in Birmingham, successful candidates must have/be:
- A graduate calibre, qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA), with significant post qualification experience
- Well-developed analytical skills, including financial models are essential and must be experienced at evaluating financial information
- Experience of working within a fast growing and dynamic start-up with the capability to provide clear financial direction to complement strategic plans is highly desirable.
- Can be an experienced Finance Director, or someone considering a first move into a FD role.
- An experienced finance professional from practice within Transactional Services (likely to be at Director Grade) considering a first move into industry, would also be considered
- A proven track record of working directly for/or with technology businesses (as part of your client portfolio) would be advantageous
- Technically minded, with relevant commercial experience, and the ability to contribute to strategic discussions whilst ensuring the company is always financially stable
- Flexible, hands on approach; able to take on multiple tasks and work on own initiative and with high levels of drive and energy
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Strong IT skills and proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software (e.g. SAP)
