Support existing management team to support business growhth an development
About Our Client
Our client is an established designer and manufacturer of home furniture that is sold across the UK retail channels. The business has received new investment to build upon its successful track record by introducing new products and processes that will help grow and develop the organisation. The business is well funded and has received consistent investment in its production equipment and facilities to provide a modern and safe working environment.
Reporting to the Board, the General Manager will be responsible for the day to day running of the buiness by providing strong leadership, operational and commercial ability that will maintain and develop the performance and profitability of the business. This will include leading operations across production, distribution and back office functions.
A key aspect of the position will be determining the business priorities of competing requirements and ensuring the business consistently meets all production and financial requirements.
The Successful Applicant
The succesful General Manager will have a proven track record from light/batch manufacturing, furniture, or relevant industries with the appreciation and ability to work in an SME environment.
You will demonstrate highly developed leadership, strategic, operational and commercial acumen to inspire and direct an existing management team to maintain, and wherever possible, maximise the operational, performance and profitability of the business. Ideally you will have gained the process and rigour from a large blue chip organisation and will have already, or be clearly capable of, transferring these skills into a more entrepreneurial SME environment.
You will therefore already be a General Manager (or equivalent), or possibly a "Head of" from a relevant function and be able to operate at the requisite senior level. While this is a permanent position based in the West Midlands, due to the nature of the position and business, this role may be attractive to candidates from a larger or more senior position who are now seeking a role they can fulfil on a 3-4 day week basis.
In all cases, the successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills to gain trust across the business. You will also have the agility to move from strategic thinking to being hands-on.
