About Our Client

Our client is a public Chinese biotech with over thousand employees based in China, USA, EU and South East Asia. Having a fully integrated capability to support drugs from discovery stage all the way to manufacturing, they are launching their first global product in early 2022. As a next step, the company will focus on developing new technology platforms and advancing existing assets.

Our client is building vibrant, fast-paced and science-centric culture, combining practices from 'Big Pharm'a and 'Biotech' worlds.

Job Description

  • Drive the development and execution of an external and internal communications strategy aligned with company goals and objectives that includes corporate positioning, thought leadership, reputation and issues management
  • Develop and execute strategic media relations approach to communicate the company value proposition to key stakeholders through an array media channels
  • Develop content, including messages and talking points, media materials, press releases and other company announcements or communications
  • Liaise with communications staff at partner organisation to coordinate joint announcements and external messaging; plan strategically and align communication strategies
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the relevant product market, relevant scientific topics, and business context
  • Work compliantly within a highly regulated industry
  • Create executive briefing materials and assist in preparation for impactful delivery
  • Support other aspects of communication, including but not limited to logistics, reporting, etc.
  • Liaise with internal inter- and interdepartmental partners as needed
  • Partner with external PR agency to support achievement of strategic goals and annual communication plan

The Successful Applicant

  • 10 -12 years of experience in communications, PR, public affairs and/or marketing either at a biotech/pharmaceutical company or with a communications/PR/public affairs agency working with biotech/pharmaceutical clients
  • Strong knowledge of media space in China is must, with working knowledge of pharma/biotech industry -specific rules and regulations
  • Strong business judgement when making decisions; always considers the relevance/impact of each decision on the business and brand
  • Experience managing external vendors and partners, including expectations and budget
  • Experience in diverse public affairs/communications subspecialties such as internal communications, thought-leadership, corporate social responsibility, corporate identity, media relations, product PR, patient advocacy and/or government relations
  • Self-motivated; proven track record of working independently with minimal direction, high level of urgency driven by thirst to learn and passion for serving patients
  • Excellent written & verbal communications skills; able to draft/adapt messaging appropriately for diverse audiences (health care professionals, patients, media, etc.)
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication, award nominations that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Social media experience, especially for corporate executives and corporate communications, is preferred
  • Ability to work well under pressure, successfully navigate ambiguity and succeed in a rapidly changing, fast-paced, often unpredictable environment with multiple competing priorities
  • High level of attention to detail and organization; able to create error-free materials and execute across multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Experience at expertly managing sensitive situations, crisis communications and issues impacting reputation
