Job Description
The Director, Global Sustainability will be responsible for ideating and leading the Group Sustainability Strategy across different Brands and Business Units and will propose, implement and lead the sustainability initiatives for Global Supply Chain.
This person must have the ability to create a global sustainability strategy where it does not yet exist by personally leading the definition of the strategy to be implemented and communicated at a Group level. This is an individual contributor role that will work across the Senior Leadership Team and should have the demonstrated ability to influence without authority.Responsibilities
- Identify the Group Sustainability Road Map in a medium/long terms
- Oversees the delivery of the sustainability targets relating to climate resilience, greenhouse gas emissions, water, waste, responsible sourcing, packaging circular economy, etc. via direct reports and broader supply chain organization
- Monitor industry and supply chain trend and best practices to develop supply chain sustainability strategy across all regions and supply chain activities.
- Identify and leverage internal stakeholders (finance, legal, new product development and communication to develop a sustainability agenda
- Engage with senior supply chain leaders to gain buy-in and support execution to address material sustainability issue
- Work with key stakeholders to strategically evolve the network of suppliers and consolidate where appropriate to leverage efficiencies, mitigate risk and simplify "run the business" activities.
- Actively participate concurrently in the New Product Innovation program and staged gate deliverables, including idea generation, driving awareness of supply-side capabilities
- Stay informed of current industry-wide regulatory requirements and emerging trends and ensure that suppliers to the company conform to these requirements; monitor gap closure plans to mitigate shortfalls as needed.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support sustainability projects and initiatives
- Monitor emerging legislation, trends and reporting frameworks on sustainability
- Delivery of internal training on sustainability, including how to recognize and raise environmental and other sustainability issues
- Build a Strategy well balanced between tactical and strategic close to 50/50
