Job Description
The candidate is responsible for developing a strategic approach to the corporate procurement and material management process for the purchase of direct and indirect goods and services. In this leadership role, the successful candidate will direct the procurement of goods and services for the client; assist Procurement team members and colleagues with procurement processes, change and updates other procurement-related activities; develop and/or update procurement policies and procedures; and develop a centralized procurement program that will add value and efficiency to the organization. Your team will have tactical responsibility for the development and implementation of policies, procedures and systems that support the company's acquisition and materials management of goods and services - for both resale, customer integration and internal use.
The candidate is a seasoned purchasing professional and business leader. He/she will lead the global team in a matrix organization consisting of 7 people. In this role you will directly report into the COO of the Group.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the global purchasing team
- Build sound working relations with the internal stakeholders
- Manage the material costs portfolio
- Establish a supplier base including the proper mix of local, regional, and European suppliers
- Develop a strategy for the group and regions
- Ensure and identify potential cost savings at Group level
The main objectives are:
- Manage the cost of the purchasing budgets across the regions, which is an important aspect of the long-term strategy
- Facilitate standard setting, e.g. tools, techniques, reporting, KPI's and methodologies;
- Further enhance the matrix organisation, align the strategic sourcing strategy, and team up with the Sourcing Managers for the benefit of the Group
- To underpin the strategic objective focused on profitable growth by streamlining effective sourcing in a competitive market with scarce suppliers and resources
- To further improve cooperation with Supply chain management, Operations and Sales in the regions
The Successful Applicant
- University (masters) level
- Min. 10-15 years' progressive international experience in purchasing & sourcing with extensive experience in the manufacturing industry
- Extensive experience with Procurement Transformation programs
- Good understanding of packaging components and associated commodities
- Solid track record in meeting substantial material cost reduction targets
- Ability to coordinate multiple group efforts within the company to achieve objectives
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to identify processes requiring improvement, and to recommend improvements
- Experienced leader
- Excellent negotiation skills, comfortable with negotiating large volumes
- Strong influencing skills
- Ability to connect and motivate people;
