Job Description

The Head of Compliance - Jersey will work with the London based Group Chief Compliance Officer with developing and implementing the compliance vision for Jersey. This person will hold the positions of Compliance Officer, Money Laundering Compliance Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer.

The Head of Compliance - Jersey will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead the Compliance team taking responsibility for all compliance and reporting activities
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, training and development to the Compliance team
  • Responsible for ensuring that the firm's businesses remains at all times in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and codes of practice (including industry best practice)
  • Act as the point of escalation for all regulated entities where technical expertise is required and be the principal point of contact with the JFSC
  • Remain up to date, interpret and disseminate information about regulatory and legislative changes and ensure policies, procedures, documents, compliance tools and internal systems/controls are adapted to accommodate any such changes
  • Provide support, education and training to all employees to build awareness of regulatory obligations
  • As MLRO/MLCO, to receive internal Unusual Activity Reports (UARs), review, manage and (if appropriate) externalise to the JFCU in accordance with Group policy
  • Review all operational risk management and internal control activities, compiling risk information and preparing reports for the Jersey Boards/Committees

The Successful Applicant

The Head of Compliance - Jersey will have a proven track record in Jersey. Unfortunately candidates with experience outside of the Jersey regulatory environment cannot be considered at this time.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Educated to degree level, ideally with a professional qualification (ACA/ICSA/STEP/ICA) or equivalent
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of the regulatory framework in Jersey, and ideally other offshore jurisdictions
  • A comprehensive knowledge of the Jersey regulatory environment in particular a thorough understanding of the TCB/FSB codes of practice
  • Knowledge of local legislation, regulation and corporate governance best practice
  • Sound technical knowledge of trust, company and fund administration
  • Good inter-personal skills, and the ability to motivate others
  • The ability to communicate and delegate technical matters appropriately
