Job Description

Some key duties include the below:

· Provide overall HR leadership for the region, both in terms of providing clear strategic direction for the function and in terms of ongoing operational support and guidance.

· Develop, implement and successfully deploy a HR strategic plan for the region, which sets out the people/organizational capabilities required, and identifies how these capabilities will be delivered.

· Act as a member of the AFRICA Regional Executive Committee (Exco) management team and partner with the heads of the other functions in achieving business objectives and addressing organizational issues.

· Implement Corporate Rewards initiatives and review local compensation and benefit plans to ensure competitiveness and effectiveness in motivating and retaining high performers. Manages the payroll function to ensure that all staff are paid accurately and promptly.

· Deploy a performance management process that is aligned to Group HR directions and which ensures, on an ongoing basis, that staff set clear and relevant annual objectives, receive accurate performance reviews, and have meaningful development plans.

· Collaborate closely with Corporate and Regional L&D to evaluate the training needs of the organization and implement training programs accordingly

· Balance driving Strategic HR concepts and goals and with a pragmatic approach towards delivering operational demands. A "doer" and a hands on leader who is able to roll up the sleeves and get things done.

· Comfortable in a dynamic, high pressured, fast changing, complex, unstructured and flat environment and hierarchy.

· Self-motivated, Results driven, with a high passion for engaging people and driving motivation.

· Strong analytical problem solving, decision making and financial acumen.

· Business Acumen and customer perspective.

· Flexible and ability to take on projects and work beyond job scope as required.

Required Work Experience:

· At least 15 years of experience with significant experience as a successful HR generalist, including significant and strong "stand-alone" experience of leading an HR function at a senior executive level in an international multinational environment.

· Experience of working in a complex multicultural matrix organization.

· Experience in working in a Professional Services Organization could be advantageous.

· International exposure and experience of working and living overseas would be an advantage.

· Experience of working in emerging and remote sites and markets is essential.

· A track record of successful HR leadership in driving people/organization development and change management.

· Strong customer service orientation while able to drive specific HR agenda.

· Proven hands on capabilities in employee/industrial relations, with a firm grasp of employment law/practices in AFRICA.

· A strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to engage with a very diverse employee population at all staff levels.

· Demonstrated track record of developing people.

· Strong cultural sensitivity.

Required Qualifications:

· A relevant HR experiences in recruitment, development, retention and management in the medical, Oil & Gas and mining sectors are a must associated with a HR degree qualification or equivalent.

Travel Requirements

· Travel up to 40% of the time required all sites, offices and locations throughout AFRICA.

· International travel to other locations as required at conferences and meetings.

Required Languages:

· Exceptionally strong verbal and written English language skills. Fluent in Portuguese.

· Fluency in French would be an added advantage
