With rapid growth in China, they are looking for a Head of Medical. This is an outstanding opportunity to serve as a driving force in building and expanding the company's medical affairs presence and success, and on that will provide broad leadership challenge, accountability, and impact.

Job Description

  • Provide leadership for the local Medical / Scientific Affairs department, ensuring a focus on talent development and building a high-performance culture
  • Directly line manage the Medical Affairs team and (via a dotted line) the Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance (PV) and R&D teams in China
  • Provide clinical support for all areas of Medical / Scientific Affairs and the full portfolio of products
  • Provide Medical governance for the country ensuring all activities is in patients' best interest
  • Ensure Global medical systems and process are embedded in the country
  • Collaborate with Global Medical teams to ensure the country/ data generation and medical communication needs are met through their activities
  • Collaborate with functional Heads in Pharmacovigilance, R&D and Regulatory to ensure alignment across all local activities
  • Build and maintain contacts with medical opinion leaders, external experts, institutions and medical societies
  • Lead on patient engagement activities, such as patient advocacy groups
  • Following alignment with communications team, act as a medical spokesperson for the company
  • Liaise with competitor companies to resolve any disputes regarding the company's or their activities
  • Provide support / advice and information both internally and externally on Scientific / Medical matters related to the company's products and competitors (such as strategies, tactics, promotional activities, scientific concepts)
  • Work closely with Marketing to ensure seamless execution of all initiatives
  • Liaise with Regulatory Affairs, Drug Safety and R&D to ensure a seamless approach from Medical / Scientific Affairs
  • Guide the approval of promotional and scientific materials for the company prior to distribution and publication
  • Collaborate with compliance team to ensure country activities meet the company standards

The Successful Applicant

  • Degree in Medicine or equivalent education
  • Minimum 10 to 15 years' experience in Medical / Scientific Affairs
  • Strong project management skills with proven experience in meeting timelines
  • Familiar with strategy and tactics of Medical Affairs based on pharma or diagnostic experience
  • Highly capable communicator, oral and written, with skills that are structured, well organized, and concise; capable of answering ad-hoc questions with confidence and clarity
  • High work capacity may be required at certain times in high priority projects
  • Proven ability to develop internal relationships in a highly matrix environment, as well as external relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and industry experts
  • A desire to be part of a highly innovative company aimed at transforming the lives of people with serious diseases, their families and society
  • Fluency (written and spoken) in English is mandatory
