About Our Client

We are looking for a senior independent leader to head the design and analytics function within Transaction Monitoring (TM). The Head will be accountable for the strategic development and deployment of advanced analytics, AI/ML models, and monitoring solutions that strengthen the organization's ability to detect and prevent financial crime.

This role includes working in a multi-disciplinary & global team and close collaboration with senior stakeholders across business, technology, and compliance.

Job Description

  • Provide strategic direction for the design, development, and implementation of TM models, covering anomaly detection, behavioral profiling, network analysis, and predictive scoring.
  • Oversee analytical processes enhancing red flag monitoring, scenario design, threshold tuning, segmentation, and optimization across multiple product lines (accounts, payments, cards, trade finance, capital markets).
  • Ensure all solutions comply with governance requirements, including model risk management, regulatory expectations, and internal policies.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to embed "analytics by design" principles into change and investment initiatives, ensuring sustainable and scalable solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in analytical capabilities, methodologies, and use of data science techniques to enhance TM effectiveness.
  • Represent the function in governance forums and provide updates to senior management on risks, vulnerabilities, and remediation activities.
  • Act as a sponsor for training initiatives, mentoring programs, and knowledge development across the team.



The Successful Applicant

  • Minimum 12 years of professional experience, including significant leadership roles in AML, Transaction Monitoring, or financial crime analytics.
  • Proven track record in leading large analytical or modeling teams (10+ people) and delivering strategic transformation programs.
  • Strong knowledge of AML/CFT regulations and transaction monitoring frameworks.
  • Expertise in advanced analytics, statistical modeling, and ML/AI, with proficiency in Python, R, SQL; exposure to big data ecosystems is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across business, compliance, and technology functions.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and innovation.
  • Advanced skills in HQL, Hive, and Hadoop scripting, along with experience in databases like Oracle and HaaS.
  • Industry certifications (e.g., ACAMS) or equivalent experience would be a plus.
