Job Description

  • Implements, manages, and reviews payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions for 1,500+ employees including salaries, benefits, defined contribution plans, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions consistent with federal, provincial, state, and local wage and hour laws, and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Manages the payroll team to ensure time-sheets and payroll are processed thoroughly and timely through the time and attendance system.
  • Maintains a strong relationship with outsourced service providers including ADP and UKG (Kronos). Sets and ensures vendor's service standards, quality, timeliness and related metrics are well defined and met.
  • Contributes to optimization and resolution of employee Tier 1 inquiries and all other related employee life cycle events (hire, termination, leave, merit, etc.) via self-service ticketing systems. Assists in defining service standards and assist in troubleshooting more complex transactions and inquiries.
  • Manages all payroll, SOX and related audits. Ensures audit procedures and controls are properly established and documented to ensure potential errors are minimized and issues immediately resolved.
  • Partners with Operations and Tech/Data teams to ensure data integrity across payroll, time/attendance systems, and related HR interfaces.

The Successful Applicant

  • Expertise in SAP or ADP payroll systems including ADP Global View
  • Experience managing employee life cycle events (promotions, merit increase, terminations, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge in HR systems; Success Factors and Kronos experience preferred.
  • Expertise in leave management policies, EEO reporting, Federal, Provincial, State and Local pay regulations, garnishments, and compliance.
  • Ability to analyze data and develop relevant insights, strong attention to detail and financial acumen.
  • Strong understanding of data flows and allocation of internal and external resources to ensure processes are timely and accurate.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Payroll Processing including 5 years of oversight/management of complex payroll systems including multi-state processing with hourly, salaried, union, and non-union populations
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification through the American Payroll Association preferred
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in human resources, business, accounting, or finance.
