Job Description

National Leadership & Strategy

  • Define and implement the national strategy and operating model for the Technical Support function
  • Lead and develop Regional Technical Support Managers, establishing clear performance expectations and operating cadence
  • Foster a cohesive national culture across geographically dispersed technical teams



Operational Excellence

  • Establish and maintain national standards for diagnostics, repair, testing, documentation and workshop operations
  • Optimise work intake, triage and scheduling processes to improve turnaround time and service reliability
  • Balance workloads across regions to maximise utilisation and ensure service level commitments are achieved



People Leadership & Capability

  • Develop national workforce capability plans including skills development, training, apprenticeships and succession planning
  • Drive employee engagement, performance management and retention initiatives across technical teams
  • Lead organisational change initiatives and support operational transformation



Customer & Commercial Performance

  • Partner with service delivery teams to ensure contractual obligations and customer service expectations are consistently met
  • Oversee national technical support budgets, forecasting and cost management
  • Ensure accurate job costing, financial tracking and reporting across the support function



Governance, Safety & Risk

  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety, regulatory and legislative requirements
  • Promote a strong safety culture across workshops and technical support operations
  • Lead risk management and incident response processes across the national support network



Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement performance reporting and dashboards covering safety, quality, productivity and financial metrics
  • Drive structured continuous improvement initiatives to improve service efficiency and customer outcomes

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be an experienced technical leader with a strong background in communications systems, RF technologies or telecommunications environments, combined with a proven ability to lead large multi-site technical teams.

You will bring a strong understanding of national technical service operations and demonstrate the ability to build capability, drive operational performance and implement national standards across geographically distributed teams.

Key experience and capabilities will include:

  • A technical qualification in electronics, communications, telecommunications, RF engineering or a related discipline
  • Significant experience in RF communications systems including digital radio platforms such as TETRA, P25 or DMR, as well as analogue radio technologies
  • Strong technical understanding of antenna systems, microwave networks and DC power infrastructure
  • Extensive leadership experience managing multi-site technical support teams across multiple regions
  • Proven ability to drive operational improvements, service standards and performance management frameworks
  • Demonstrated commercial capability including budgeting, forecasting and financial management
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to influence across technical and operational teams
  • A structured and analytical approach to problem solving, escalation management and operational decision making
