About Our Client

The Kentown Wizard Foundation was established in 2015 with the aim of improving the lives of children with life threatening conditions and serious disabilities. The foundation achieves this aim by making grants to UK registered charities.

To date the foundation has made grants totalling £18m and it currently has reserves totalling £80m.

The offices are based in Blackpool and there is a small well established team.

Job Description

This vacancy arises due to the retirement of the current CEO and offers a unique opportunity to lead the foundation into its next chapter of development. This role will require a total of 15 hours per week.

The ethos of the foundation is to actively seek out new projects and partners and to continually evolve and grow in order to have a real and enduring impact. It therefore needs a CEO who can provide strategic leadership, vision and direction for the next phase of the journey.

Main Duties:

  • Leading the foundation to achieve its strategic objectives
  • Formulating these objectives in conjunction with the Trustees
  • Continually monitoring the foundation's activities to ensure that funds are used effectively to achieve maximum impact
  • Initiating and leading future development
  • Ensuring that the foundation discharges its governance, constitutional and legal responsibilities effectively
  • Working with the Trustees to enable them to fulfil their duties and legal obligations
  • Leading quarterly Trustees Meetings
  • Being the public face of the foundation to maintain and develop the Kentown "brand" and profile
  • Forming sound relationships with the CEOs of the charities we support and others within the sector
  • Providing inspiring leadership to the Kentown team and continuing to develop the current culture, where everyone feels valued and heard
  • Working closely with the CFO to ensure sound financial management of the foundation and compliance with legal requirements and Charity Commission best practice
  • Working closely with the CFO in the further development and evolution of Due Diligence procedures
  • Maintaining relationships with current fund managers and continually assessing their performance

The Successful Applicant

  • Trained Finance Professional, ACA or similar
  • Wide commercial experience at Board level, CFO or similar
  • Inspiring leader who thrives on collaborative working
  • Imaginative, analytical and forward thinking
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience of strategy development
  • Genuine commitment to the aims of the foundation

What's on Offer

Candidates can expect to receive a salary of £50,000 for 15 hours work per week plus benefits.

This role offers flexible hybrid working but will require regular visits to the foundation's office, which is currently located in Blackpool.
