Job Description

As Practice Manager varied responsibilities include:

  • Supporting with the smooth implementation of the practice group's strategic plan, working closely with practice leadership. defining goals, priorities and managing the implementation of their plans
  • Managing operations for the Corporate Transaction and Real Estate practices, working closely with the Practice Group Director
  • Project managing the delivery of substantive practice development initiatives and projects: building out the lateral integration process, leading check-ins, new product offerings and service lines as well as managing an internal and external program of secondments
  • Managing Associate onboarding and offboarding
  • High-level support for the operational aspects of running the practice groups including drafting leadership communications, managing internal and external practice meetings and assisting with promotion, compensation and evaluation processes
  • Track census file changes and ensure that these changes flow to other practice group reporting
  • Partnering with Finance & Accounting to review and analyzing key financial metrics including capacity and profitability
  • Creating and analyzing targeted financial reports to identify and explain specific trends and anomalies, including but not limited to advising on aspects related to billing and matter management
  • Partner with Administrative departments (IT, HR, Marketing, Accounting and Finance) to ensure operational excellence, efficiencies and effective use of resources toward meeting strategic objectives
  • Fostering cross-platform communication and idea exchange particularly with similar practice support and operational roles across the firm

The Successful Applicant

As Practice Manager, the successful candidate will offer demonstrable experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree (minimum) or equivalent required
  • 5+ years experience in a law firm or professional service environment
  • Project management and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work well with senior management/ stakeholders
  • Reliable, flexible, demonstrating a high degree of initiative
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills, able to create PowerPoint decks, comfortable presenting in public forums
  • Legal Marketing and Business Development experience preferred

  • Salary: $140,000 - $190,000 PA depending on experience

  • Hybrid working arrangement (3 days/ week in office)
