Exciting opportunity for a Director / Senior Director - Corporate Issuers Relationship Management to join our client who is a global leader in credit ratings and research. London.

The Director position is within the EMEA Corporates Issuer Team, which is responsible for the growth and development of the corporate ratings portfolio. This team is responsible for winning new business and managing our client's relationships with corporate issuers. The team has a primary focus on business in the UK and Ireland, the Netherlands and Turkey.

Reporting: to a Senior Director in the team


This is a relationship management and business development role.

The focus of this role is the management of the day to day relationships with a growing portfolio of customers mainly in the UK and Ireland as well as marketing to prospective customers in this region. The role will also entail occasional interaction with London-based bankers (primarily Rating Advisors) as well as supporting and leading business initiatives in the EMEA region.

An important aspect of the role will be to continue to raise the profile of the our client's brand through consistent marketing to Corporate issuers.

Below is a list of some of the main deliverables expected of the successful candidate:

  • will be expected to contribute to the London Issuer team's targets with existing issuer retention and also new business acquisition
  • the role will require a strategic approach: the candidate will need to understand and capitalise on the firm's positioning in the Corporates market, and be able to identify and then prioritise new targets in order to maximise the opportunities
  • the successful candidate will be expected to develop a good understanding of the credit rating landscape and be able to formulate arguments around the benefits of the firm
  • they will be expected to manage a both priority and non-priority UK-based corporate issuer relationships
  • expected to follow up on existing opportunities, as well as originating new prospects
  • working with the Marketing Research Associates on the production of marketing pitchbooks plus other materials required for engagement with target issuers and existing issuers
  • managing Issuer outreach for their region (including webinars and marketing campaigns)
  • be involved in contract negotiation and other duties / administration with external counterparties including preparing Engagement Letters, Confidentiality Agreements and Hold Harmless Letters required for rating mandates
  • Bringing creative ideas to help develop new marketing angles
  • engage with the BRM Corporates Banker, Investor Development Teams, and Analytical colleagues on target names and existing relationships

Management and execution of a small number of special projects including but not limited to new product development, competitor analysis and marketing initiatives, as well as supporting their line manager on bespoke tactical and strategic projects. From the outset the individual will enjoy a significant degree of autonomy and responsibility, with excellent opportunities for self and career development. The role involves occasional travel around the UK and Ireland.

The Successful Applicant

Exciting opportunity for a Director / Senior Director - Corporate Issuers Relationship Management to join our client who is a global leader in credit ratings and research. London.

Skills Required:

This role requires some understanding of Corporate Finance and the debt capital markets (bonds and loans), including experience of the High Yield and Leveraged Finance marketplace, ideally gained from an origination or advisory role at a financial institution or credit rating agency. An understanding of corporate credit analysis would be an advantage.

The candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate at a senior level.

Strong marketing and interpersonal skills are a pre-requisite with a successful track record of developing commercial relationships and opportunities.

Additionally, the candidate should have:

  • Excellent English language skills (essential)
  • Strong marketing and negotiation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate confidently with senior members of Corporate Treasury teams (including Treasurers and CFOs)
  • Demonstrable capability of originating new business and closing deals
  • Ability and confidence to develop strong business relationships
  • Strong command of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with relevant capital markets data tools including, but not limited to, Bloomberg, Dealogic and FactSet would be an advantage
  • The candidate must be able to work independently within a strategic framework whilst maintaining high work standards and show excellent attention to detail
  • Team oriented, with ability to effectively build relationships both externally and internally.
  • University degree, preferably in a business-related discipline. Other professional or business qualification (e.g. MBA, Master's Degree) would be an advantage.
