Job Description

Exciting opportunity for a Senior Equity Sales - Director focused on sales of research services & execution services to institutional clients with a European security services firm, which is part of a international banking and financial group. London

ROLE PURPOSE:

A. To establish, maintain and grow client relationships/accounts within the securities business by selling Research Services, and cross-selling Execution Services (Account Management Function),

B. To discuss trading and investment ideas with clients (in particular PMs and CIOs), using as much as possible the research papers/notes produced by the securities business (Daily Coverage Function within Sales and Research Offering).MAJOR ACTIVITIES

Account Management

  • Establish, maintain and grow client relationships/accounts within the firm's securities business line by selling Research Services and cross-selling Execution Services;
  • Work alongside colleagues and management to expand the securities business by utilising the depth of your market contacts
  • Regularly call and set up meetings with existing clients (a) to ensure that they are satisfied with the services and products received by the firm, (b) to identify new opportunities and/or (c) present new products and services. Communicate back to colleagues and management the clients' needs for services/products, expectations and opportunities;
  • On an ongoing basis, monitor client business activity with the firm and report/discuss any significant changes (increases/decreases);
  • Arrange calls and meetings with client prospects involving, as from the pitch and where possible, representatives of both the research and execution team (with the relevant experts within the firm for the services/products that the client may be interested in);
  • Liaise with dealing desks of your clients to introduce/follow up on execution services on an ongoing basis;



Daily Coverage within Sales and Research Offering

  • Discuss trading and investment ideas with clients (in particular PMs and CIOs), using as much as possible the research papers/notes produced by the Research teams;
  • Communicate trading and investment ideas (whether they come from you and/or your clients) within the firm and work with Analysts to develop/produce research papers/notes (a) around securities/companies within the sectors covered by the firm and/or (b) around thematic topics, macroeconomic developments and/or particular events. In today's regulatory environment, it is expected from Equity Sales staff that their trading/investment ideas and/or informal commentaries be supported by research papers/notes produced by the firm's Analysts and/or analytical tools (such as the Compass Product) so that the firm's offerings/services can be perceived as well-differentiated and substantive by our clients;
  • Distribute research products/services to clients, with the goal that the distribution of such products/services be maximised;
  • Arrange regular meetings with clients for Analysts and other product specialists with the idea that the firm's Analysts and other product specialists should meet the relevant analysts/specialists within the firm's clients;
  • Organise and/or support the organisation of specific events for clients (including corporate access events where applicable), with the idea of integrating the firm's Analysts and other product specialists as much as possible in these events;
  • If you receive orders on behalf of clients these should be passed to the execution team for execution;



General Contribution

  • Adopt and foster a team approach within the firm
  • Assist with the management of distribution lists, the use of systems, and other projects in the sales and research departments to ensure maximum efficiency, suggesting ways to reduce costs or improve systems within the department or across the wider business;
  • Liaise with other offices where you identify business opportunities for the group;
  • Promote the brand in a professional and responsible manner.
  • Any other duties required consistent with your role.



Targets

  • Ensure that you meet the objectives that have been set for you by the business and your Report and, except in exceptional circumstances and as communicated to your Report, attend meetings and/or presentations both internally and externally that you have been asked to attend;
  • Achieve the monthly revenue targets set by management and your Report. Ensure you liaise directly with your Report or management in a timely manner if you believe that you will not achieve your target outlining your reasons why and demonstrating how you will attempt to ensure you achieve your targets in the following period;

Experience & Knowledge

  • Rudimentary command of normal analytic methods employed in specialist market sectors covered;
  • Ability to digest, interpret, re-formulate and express financial information in the form of dispassionate and reasoned argument;
  • Ability to harness the above skills in the form of verbal advice;
  • Ability to determine best interests of client;
  • Ability to obtain best executionable price available for client in the normal course of business;
  • Command of all relevant dealing and information systems; Strong Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel



Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Relevant regulatory qualifications
