Our client is a global technology leader, offering innovative products across imaging, healthcare, printing, and semiconductor industries. Its European operations include multiple subsidiaries and business units which oversee manufacturing, R&D, sales, and services. With over 70 group companies and 7,000 employees in EMEA, our client's business is supported by a skilled legal team of over 20 lawyers across nine countries.Due to a successful track record and ongoing growth in the European market, our client is seeking an experienced legal counsel to support its operations in Belgium.

In this role, you will work independently from Belgium but also collaboratively as part of the legal team in Germany, and sparring partner for business stakeholders on various legal affairs, transactions, and compliance matters, ensuring operational and regulatory adherence.

Job Description

  • Provide legal advice on day-to-day affairs, domestic and cross-border transactions, contracts, and corporate matters
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial and manufacturing contracts, including supply, distribution, joint ventures, and technology licensing
  • Develop and update standard form agreements and templates, aligning with corporate policies and laws
  • Advise on corporate governance, mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations
  • Maintain accurate corporate records for legal entities
  • Support pre-litigation, litigation, dispute resolution, and settlements
  • Offer legal advice and recommendations to management
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting the company
  • Provide legal training to affiliates on contracts, antitrust, and chemical manufacturing regulations
  • Manage and enhance the regional compliance management system, including developing policies, conducting training, and organizing compliance audits and investigations

The Successful Applicant

  • Fully qualified lawyer (i.e. BAR Admission), preferably in a European country such as Germany, Belgium, France or similar
  • Minimum 7-10 years of practical experience in commercial and corporate law, including cross-border transactions, either in an In-House role or Law Firm
  • Experience (or interest) in the Chemicals, Manufacturing or Semiconductor or Electronics Industry is a plus
  • High professionalism, proactive approach, and ability to work under pressure in an international environment
  • Strong organizational, communication, multitasking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with a strong work ethic
  • Experience managing outside counsel and/or legal staff, with attention to budget
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, including communication with senior leadership
  • Fluency in English, proficiency in French and/or Dutch is a plus.
  • Intercultural skills and ability to collaborate with multicultural teams across different time zones
  • Willingness to undertake occasional business travel within Europe (e.g. Germany, Italy, France, UK)
