Job DescriptionOverviewThe UK Country Director will be responsible for leading World Animal Protection's activities in the UK, building a global movement for sustainable animal protection at scale. This role will focus on delivering the global strategy by aligning UK plans and activities with global objectives, ensuring efficient and effective delivery, and meeting global functional commitments. Externally, the role champions World Animal Protection's global strategy; internally, it ensures local insights, knowledge, opportunities, and challenges shape their work.Duties and Responsibilities:Strategic LeadershipLead the development and execution of UK-specific strategies aligned with global objectives.Act as a key member of the global Senior Leadership Team, contributing to cross-functional initiatives.Programme & Project ManagementOversee UK programme development, delivery, performance management, and reporting.Drive local implementation of global priorities and ensure effective project management.Fundraising & Stakeholder EngagementRepresent the UK office as an ambassador and spokesperson.Engage with funders, build strategic partnerships, and drive income generation.Team Leadership & People ManagementFoster a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and professional development.Provide leadership to the UK team, managing performance, professional growth, and compliance.Financial OversightManage the UK office budget, ensuring financial integrity and compliance with regulations.Serve as an authorised signatory and ensure adherence to global financial policies.Operational ComplianceEnsure compliance with global and local policies, governance requirements, and health and safety standards.Uphold brand integrity, drive supporter engagement, and oversee effective resource management.Advocacy & NetworkingActively network and advocate to raise the profile of World Animal Protection.Engage with Boards, strategic partners, and the philanthropic community to support organisational goals. The Successful ApplicantSubstantial experience of working in an international environment (ideally with a systems change strategy)Strong understanding at a strategic level of income generation (ideally fundraising) and growth and able to bring value in relation to major giving and partnershipsExperienced in and comfortable working with complex budgets and handling processes that deliver information and reports to a range of stakeholdersStrong strategic and analytical abilities with intellectual rigour and able to work well under pressure.Ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to problems and make recommendations that take account of long-term benefits and risksAbility to build and maintain excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Experience of senior level networking, developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders and in representing an organisation to external stakeholders at all levels incl. mediaProven ability to lead, inspire, grow and manage teams to deliver results on time, within budget and to deadlinesExperience in managing organisational change at a senior levelA strong commitment to the aims and values of World Animal protectionWhat's on OfferCandidates can expect to receive a salary of £73-£80K plus benefits.This is a hybrid UK-based role, requiring travel within the UK on occasion.Some international travel will also be required.
