The Director of Sports will lead coaching and performance teams, drive athlete development pathways, and ensure a culture of excellence, growth, and sustainable success.

Job Description

As a Director of Sports, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across all sports programmes within a high-performance, member-focused environment in Hong Kong
  • Develop and implement long-term plans to grow participation, performance, and sporting offerings
  • Oversee the effective management and utilisation of sports facilities to ensure safe, high-quality delivery
  • Lead collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver a broad range of sports activities and events
  • Drive initiatives to enhance engagement, satisfaction, and the overall sporting experience
  • Manage departmental budgets and ensure efficient, cost-effective operations
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a diverse team of sports and operations professionals
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, safeguarding, and regulatory standards
  • Monitor performance metrics and use insights to continuously improve programmes and services



The Successful Applicant

A successful Director of Sports should have:

  • Strong background in the leisure, travel, tourism, or broader sports institution sector, ideally within a prestigious sports club or similar member-focused organisation
  • Minimum 12 years experience in sports leadership roles, including within universities and/or private or international school environments
  • Proven experience leading sports programmes and managing sports facilities or multi-site operations within a structured sporting institution
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop diverse teams across sport and operations
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to oversee complex, multi-disciplinary programmes
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and efficient resource management
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional customer and member experiences
  • Sound understanding of safety standards, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance in sports and leisure environments
  • Effective communicator with strong stakeholder management skills across athletes, staff, partners, and governing bodies
