Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and sitting on the Executive Leadership Team, the Executive Manager Transmission Growth will lead the strategic development and delivery of Western Power's long-term transmission growth agenda.This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for shaping the transmission network required to support increased renewable energy penetration across the South West Interconnected System (SWIS).

Job Description

  • Lead the strategic direction for Western Power's transmission network growth, aligned to the organisation's corporate strategy and the evolving energy landscape.
  • Develop and implement strategies to modernise the electricity grid and support increased renewable energy penetration, including future iterations of the SWIS Transmission Plan.
  • Lead the development and delivery of major transmission augmentation and construction programs, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with strategic objectives.
  • Integrate transmission planning and delivery with State Government planning, energy policy and broader decarbonisation objectives.
  • Build and maintain high-impact relationships with government, regulators, major customers and industry partners, influencing policy and securing support for major transmission initiatives.
  • Act as Western Power's principal interface with government on transmission growth, energy reform and related policy matters.
  • Provide strategic advice to the CEO, Board and Executive Leadership Team on transmission growth, energy reform, strategic risk and emerging opportunities.
  • Lead enterprise-wide change and transformation, ensuring Western Power remains agile and future-ready as the regulatory, market and stakeholder environment evolves.
  • Champion innovation, digital transformation, data-driven decision making and new approaches to transmission development and delivery.
  • Lead and develop high-performing, multidisciplinary teams and establish clear measures of performance and delivery.



The Successful Applicant

We are seeking a senior executive with comprehensive experience leading complex, large-scale functions in an environment involving significant infrastructure investment, transformation and stakeholder complexity.

You will bring:

  • A strong track record of strategic leadership across energy, utilities, infrastructure or a closely related environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing major business or infrastructure strategies.
  • Strong understanding of the electrification of the energy system, ideally with significant transmission experience.
  • Experience leading complex infrastructure, project development or network growth programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence government, regulators, industry and major stakeholders at senior levels.
  • Exceptional communication, influencing and relationship-building capabilities, with the credibility to operate with Boards, CEOs and senior government stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to influence long-term outcomes across a complex organisation.
  • A track record of leading transformation, organisational change and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, project delivery, engineering, energy or a related discipline.



Experience within the utilities or energy sector will be highly regarded, as will postgraduate qualifications such as an MBA and involvement in relevant industry or policy networks.
