Job Description

The Assistant Legal Counsel will:

  • Provide legal advice and guidance on a wide range of issues affecting the organization, including compliance, contracts, and governance.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Ensure the organization's compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to address legal risks and support strategic initiatives.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel as needed.
  • Conduct legal research and provide clear, actionable guidance to stakeholders.
  • Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks.
  • Stay updated on legal and regulatory developments relevant to the not-for-profit sector.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Assistant General Counsel should have demonstrable skills:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in the United States.
  • Experience with legal issues related to non-profit organizations helpful but not essential.
  • Strong skills in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements.
  • Ability to provide clear legal advice to diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in conducting legal research and applying relevant laws and regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
