About Our Client

Our client is a global leader in advanced materials and high-performance component solutions for heavy industry, utilities, and large-scale infrastructure projects.

Job Description

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving growth across the Australian market through the development of new business opportunities, strategic customer relationships, and key projects and tenders. The role will lead business development activities across a diverse portfolio of technical solutions, supporting customers across a range of industrial and commercial sectors, with a particular focus on energy-related applications.

Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the manager will collaborate closely with APAC executive leadership and cross-functional global teams, including technical specification, supply chain, and marketing, to execute localised growth strategies and deliver sustained commercial success.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute the Australian business development strategy and growth plan.
  • Drive new business opportunities across heavy industry, infrastructure, and commercial building systems.
  • Manage the sales pipeline, forecasting, and CRM reporting.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with major accounts, distribution channels, and strategic industry partners.
  • Lead key projects and tenders from specification through to contract award.
  • Support major bids and proposals in close collaboration with internal engineering and commercial teams.
  • Deliver annual sales targets and drive sustainable market share growth.
  • Monitor market trends, customer needs, and broader industry developments to identify new revenue opportunities.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related discipline.
  • 15+ years of experience in progressive business development, sales, or commercial management roles.
  • Proven track record of delivering revenue growth and managing high-value, strategic customer relationships.
  • Deep experience within utilities, heavy manufacturing, large-scale infrastructure, or premium building materials.
  • Strong understanding of complex, project-based sales cycles and highly technical procurement environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex tenders, bids, and long-cycle B2B negotiations.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional influencing skills.
  • Commercially driven and self-motivated, with a willingness to travel across Australia as required.

What’s on Offer

This is a significant opportunity to join a leading global organisation and contribute to the continued expansion of its Australian business. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping commercial strategy, developing strategic customer relationships, and supporting growth across a range of industrial and commercial markets.
