About Our Client

Our client is quick-service restaurant (QSR) brand renowned for its strong value proposition, consistency, and accessibility. We are seeking an experienced Chairman / Independent Director to support the board and leadership team of an international Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) brand as it establishes its presence in Malaysia. This individual will provide strategic oversight, governance, and market guidance to help ensure a successful market entry and sustainable growth.

Job Description

  • Provide independent strategic advice to the Board and executive leadership on the company's expansion into Malaysia.
  • Guide the business on local market dynamics, regulatory considerations, and industry best practices.
  • Support the development and execution of the market entry strategy, including partnerships, supply chain, operations, and governance.
  • Offer oversight on corporate governance, risk management, and board effectiveness.
  • Leverage industry networks to facilitate strategic introductions and business opportunities where appropriate.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to management while maintaining independent judgment and governance standards.
  • Participate in scheduled Board meetings and provide ongoing strategic counsel on key business decisions.



The Successful Applicant

Preferred Candidate Profile

  • Previous experience serving as a Chairman, Independent Director, or Board Director.
  • Strong leadership background within the QSR, food service, food manufacturing, or food ingredients industry.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting business expansion, market entry, or scaling operations in Southeast Asia, particularly Malaysia.
  • Deep understanding of the Malaysian food ecosystem, including supply chain, franchising, operations, and regulatory landscape.
  • Well-established industry network across food, retail, FMCG, or hospitality sectors.
  • Strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and corporate governance experience.
  • Former senior government leader with extensive knowledge of manufacturing and import/export regulations and well-established relationships across key government agencies and policymakers.
