The Head of R&D will lead and coordinate all R&D efforts of the group and is pivotal for driving innovation and advancing technological capabilities.

Job Description

The Head of R&D will lead and coordinate all R&D efforts of the group and is pivotal for driving innovation and advancing technological capabilities. As member of the division management and a direct reporting line to the CEO, this person will manage:

  • Strategic and operational management of the R&D center with complete responsibility for budget and results
  • A multidisciplinary R&D team of mechanical, electrical, hardware and software teams
  • Analyzing new, innovative technologies and assessing their applicability in the industry
  • Definition of the development roadmap in close collaboration with Product Management
  • Steering of all development projects worldwide from the idea up to the market readiness under consideration of the critical time to market and budget targets
  • Securing the technological know-how within the group through detailed documentation and appropriate training and education measures
  • Close collaboration with internal as well as external stakeholders
  • Responsibility for patents and certifications
  • Continuous improvement of the R&D processes

The Successful Applicant

  • Master's degree in electrical or electro-mechanical engineering, PhD is a very nice to have
  • At least 10 years of experience in a similar (international) function
  • Proven leadership capacity managing multidisciplinary teams (60+ fte)
  • Driven by passion to further develop technological and quality leadership
  • Energetic, charismatic personality driven by scientific curiosity and fighting spirit to get ideas done
  • As innovator you can think out of the box with a structured and target focused working style
  • Entrepreneurial mind-set and strength in conceptional and analytical thinking
  • Flexibility for international commuting
  • Fluent in English, German is a nice to have
