For our client, an ambitious international digital marketplace / platform business operating across multiple markets in CEE, we are looking for an experienced Country Director Poland.

The Group is in a strong growth and consolidation phase, combining organic development with an active M&A strategy. Poland is a strategic market and an important part of its future growth ambitions.

At the same time, the Polish business is undergoing significant change. Following a period of rapid development, acquisitions and increasing organisational complexity, the company is continuing a broader transformation and professionalisation journey.

The new Country Director will take full responsibility for the Polish business and P&L, with a clear initial mandate to stabilise and strengthen the organisation before moving into the next stage of scale and growth.

Job Description

  • Full responsibility for the Polish business, including P&L, commercial performance and operational effectiveness
  • Continue the ongoing transformation, restructuring and professionalisation
  • Identify organisational and operational challenges and implement practical improvements
  • Drive the business towards sustainable profitability
  • Strengthen financial discipline, operational effectiveness and performance management
  • Build a culture of ownership, accountability and execution
  • Assess and further develop the organisation and management team
  • Drive commercial development across B2B and B2C, increasing market share and identifying new growth opportunities
  • Further develop the company's digital marketplace / platform proposition
  • Build a scalable organisation ready for the next stage of development
  • Potentially support future M&A and post-acquisition integration activities in Poland
  • Work closely with Group leadership and shareholders

The Successful Applicant

We are looking for a hands-on, commercially minded and execution-oriented business leader who combines strong general management capabilities with the ability to lead significant organisational change.
The successful candidate should bring:

  • Senior general management experience with proven P&L ownership
  • Experience across B2B and B2C environments
  • Understanding of digital, marketplace, platform or other transaction-driven business models
  • Experience operating in entrepreneurial, investor-backed (PE) or fast-changing environments would be an advantage
  • Track record of leading transformation, turnaround, restructuring or significant organisational change
  • Strong combination of commercial and operational leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to improve profitability, efficiency and overall business performance
  • Experience leading and developing management teams
  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • Strong ownership mindset and willingness to make difficult business and people decisions
  • Experience working in an international environment with senior stakeholders, boards or shareholders
  • M&A / post-acquisition integration exposure would be an advantage
  • Fluent Polish and English
