Job Description

● Underwrite and price complex commercial and auto accounts, including large fleets.

● Analyze underwriting data (loss runs, MVRs, IFTAs, SAFER/CAB reports, etc.) to assess risk.

● Manage and grow a profitable book of business while maintaining underwriting discipline.

● Mentor junior underwriters and provide guidance.

● Collaborate with claims and risk control teams to identify trends and improvements.

The Successful Applicant

  • A successful Senior Commercial Underwriter should have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance or related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of commercial auto underwriting experience.
  • Professional designations (CPCU, AU, ARM) strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO, DOT/FMCSA regulations, and fleet operations.
  • Proficiency in underwriting systems, rating tools, and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.



  • Strong knowledge of underwriting principles within the insurance industry.
  • Experience with risk assessment and management in commercial insurance.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
