The Procurement Unit Head - Chemical Raw Materials will be responsible for leading end-to-end direct procurement activities, with a primary focus on strategic sourcing of critical raw materials within a dynamic chemical production environment. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on operational involvement to ensure cost efficiency, supplier development, and uninterrupted supply in a demand-driven production model.

Job Description

  • Lead and manage end-to-end chemical raw materials procurement activities, with a strong focus on critical chemical raw materials
  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies based on market insights and supply risk analysis
  • Manage supplier relationships, lead negotiations, and establish long-term partnerships globally (notably across Asia markets)
  • Oversee indirect procurement (CAPEX and operational purchasing) and procurement operations including import processes
  • Define, monitor, and report procurement KPIs, driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to optimize cost structures and improve operational efficiency

The Successful Applicant

A successful Procurement Unit Head should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of procurement (direct and indirect categories) experience, including at least 5 years in people management roles is a must
  • Proven experience in raw material procurement within the chemical industry (or adjacent sectors such as pharma, petrochemicals, or FMCG chemicals) is a must
  • Strong international sourcing experience, particularly with suppliers in China and India
  • Solid background in supplier management, contract negotiation, and cost optimization
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to manage diverse teams
  • Strategic mindset combined with operational execution skills in fast-paced environments
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results in complex, demand-driven production settings
  • Fluency in English
