This role sits within an independent risk function and plays a critical role in evaluating, approving, and monitoring complex structured finance transactions across the U.S. market.

Job Description

  • Perform comprehensive credit analysis for project finance and structured trade transactions, including non-recourse and limited-recourse financings.
  • Develop in-depth assessments of counterparties, incorporating historical performance, cash flow sustainability, and transaction structure.
  • Identify and clearly articulate key credit, market, and structural risks associated with proposed financings.
  • Prepare formal credit opinions, including approval decisions or recommendations for escalation and final sign-off.
  • Review and validate internal risk ratings, loss parameters (including regulatory capital inputs), and related financial metrics.
  • Actively monitor portfolio performance through ongoing reviews, early warning indicators, and quarterly credit assessments.
  • Contribute to watchlist processes and support proactive management of deteriorating exposures.
  • Analyze trends across bank and capital markets to inform risk perspectives and portfolio strategy.
  • Support internal and regulatory reporting in collaboration with portfolio management and governance teams.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of credit policies, underwriting standards, and risk appetite frameworks.
  • Participate in the evaluation of new business initiatives, products, and financing structures, including internal committee reviews.
  • Collaborate closely with legal, compliance, and front-office partners to ensure sound risk outcomes.

The Successful Applicant

Required Experience & Expertise

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in financial services with a strong focus on project finance, infrastructure, and/or commodity-related financing.
  • Deep understanding of credit and counterparty risk, particularly within non-recourse project structures and commodity trading entities.
  • Strong familiarity with U.S. financial markets and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven ability to assess complex, structured transactions with sound judgment and independence.
  • Demonstrated experience approving credit exposures and managing risk across a diversified portfolio.
